Sugar Sweet Sugar
We mainly procure our sugar in Brazil and Thailand, as they are the largest producers of sugar, and can offer a wide array of types: Icumsa 45, Icumsa 150, raw sugar etc. They are among the world leaders in the production of sugarcane, sugar and ethanol. In addition, they are among the most efficient of all major sugar producers. We also trade in a diverse number of sugar products. Since Brazil can produce either sugar or ethanol from sugarcane, it is one of the few countries that can adjust sugar production rapidly to potential world sugar shortfalls and high international prices. In Brazil most of our mills are in the State of Sao Paulo, so it is only natural that we ship from Santos, the country’s largest port. Only in some instances do we use another port. In Thailand we ship from the largest port, Laem Chabang. Sugar is a bulk commodity produced from sugarcane. It grows best in tropical areas. Once harvested, the cane is crushed to extract juice. This juice can be utilized to produce sugar or ethanol. We trade raw and white sugar, bulk and bag, for shipment in containers and bulk vessels.
