CORN PROVENANCE
Corn is grown in practically all of the regions of the world, from below sea level to 12,000 feet above, from the arid and semidry plains of Russia and North Africa, to the subtropical regions of Florida.
It is grown in countries with as little as eight inches of rainfall a year, Morocco is an example, as well as areas with more than 300 cm of rainfall, such as parts of India. It is grown during the very short time of three months in Quebec to the nine-month season in Colombia.
While nearly every state in the USA growth corn, production is concentrated in the central USA, called the corn belt.
