PISTACHIOS
Pistachio consumption has risen substantially and globally between 2015 and 2018, and U.S. and Iranian growers have been providing the major share of those nuts, The U.S. is still the largest producer of pistachios in the world with California being pre-emminent with a near 99% share. This due to the fact that climate and precision agriculture practices produce near perfect pistachios. Also, approximately 70% of pistachios grown in the U.S. are for export. This goes to show how popular the nut is worldwide. China is, by far, the largest consumer. And there has been an incredible increase of 183% in consumption over the past three years.
